A System for Transformation
NOW A NETFLIX FILM! • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Funny Story comes a sparkling novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.
Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.
Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.
Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.
Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.
Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

one of my favorite books
I have owned this book since it came out but I couldn’t get past chapter one. This week I decided to read it. It took two days because I couldn’t put it down. The story is so beautiful. I’m not sure why I couldn’t get into it because yesterday that chapter was so good! Maybe I was just waiting until I needed the story. Great book! Great writing and wonderful love story!

Love this book!
I absolutely adored this book—it was pure fun from start to finish. The chemistry between Alex and Poppy was incredible, and it easily ranks as one of my all-time favorites by this author.
It’s a sweet, lighthearted rom-com with just the right amount of romance (not too spicy), and I loved both main characters. Poppy is hilarious and relatable, Alex is completely swoon-worthy, and the story is told mostly from Poppy’s point of view, which made it even more engaging.
I am head over heels for Alex Nielsen. I couldn’t put this book down, and I was genuinely sad when it ended. The banter was fantastic, their connection felt so real, and I even found myself tearing up at the end. Poppy and Alex are perfect on their own—and absolutely magical together. I’m officially obsessed.

Sweet and Buttery Romance
It’s all about the theme! This book is so easy to fall into. From the beginning you feel loyal to Poppy and anyone who doesn’t fall in love with Alex is crazy! They are perfect friends, until each realizes that’s not nearly enough. Bit love is tricky. Lives take over. Fear is real. And not everyone ends up together. Buttons for it all the same. ❤️

Heartfelt Summer Romance
People We Meet on Vacation is such a delightful read! It follows Poppy and Alex, two best friends with totally opposite personalities who have a tradition of vacationing together every summer. The story jumps between their past trips and the present as they try to reconnect after a year apart.
Emily Henry’s writing is witty, heartfelt, and full of charm. The characters feel real—flawed but lovable—and their chemistry is electric. The book beautifully explores friendship, love, and figuring out what you really want in life.
If you love slow-burn romances with humor, emotional depth, and beautiful settings, this one’s a must-read!

A personal favorite
I love a good friends to lovers story but this one was by far a favorite! Poppy and Alex had so much palpable chemistry from the jump and the yearning was just what I needed! Emily Henry has away of creating such fun dialogue and situations to put these lovely characters in and I loved seeing them grow from vacation to vacation!
